Registration

For the month of December, Country Elementary’s students and staff participated in a Service Learning Project called “Bedtime and a Book”.  Obviously, no one enjoys being in the hospital; during the holidays, however, being a patient can be even more difficult.

Country families and staff were asked to donate new PJs and a book so that children at Mott’s Children’s Hospital had something special delivered to them during the holidays. Who doesn’t want some cozy PJs and a book to snuggle up with?

In a matter of a few weeks, we collected over 73 gift bags! Pjs and books were purchased for the smallest of patients all the way up to teenagers! Each set of PJs had a book that corresponded to the patient’s age…it was wonderful to see the generosity of a community and I was fortunate enough to get the reward when I dropped off the gifts to the hospital.  Molly, one of the community relations representatives, said that she has yet to see an organization come up with an idea like ours! Thank you to everyone that participated…we KNOW that you put a smile on a child’s face this December!!
